Lab Vison: Polarizing Microscope

The polarizing microscope (Lab Vison) is an essential tool for synovial fluid analysis, crystal-induced arthritis, gout or pseudogout, microscope for routine cytology, hematology, urinalysis, etc. This specialized system is designed to combine high-resolution optics with functionality. Polarizing microscopy means an optical microscopy technique involving polarized light. In medicine, polarizing microscopy is especially using in rheumatology to see the gout crystals in the synovial fluid. The gout crystals are birefringent. The operator must adjust the focus, brightness and magnification after placing the specimen under the objective lens. By rotating the polarizer holder, the light passing through the polarizer will be blocked in the analyzer before the eyepiece. In that situation the gout crystals shine in the black background.
